Oven of Unleavened Bread
Beautifully preserved, this bakery begins at a gate, which is crowned by a menorah, the seven-branched candelabra used by Jews – today one of the most striking architectural elements of the Pitigliano ghetto.
Inside the bakery is divided into two rooms.
In the first there is a large marble table which was used to knead dough and prepare desserts. You can see it in the left corner of the image above.
From the second, unleavened bread was made, which was kneaded using a rod fixed to the table – as you can see in my photo!
This was then cooked in a beautiful old stone oven in another section of the room.
