Museum of Prehistory and Protohistory

Due to its geographical position, the WWF Oasis of Orbetello hosts thousands of birds, especially in winter.

The Orbetello lagoon is characterized by three main habitats: Mediterranean maquis dominated by mastic, phillyrea, myrtle and strawberry tree; dune vegetation including rushing wheatgrass, othanthus maritimus, European beachgrass, medicago marina, sea holly and sea daffodil; and a lagoon area with a large sea purslane carpet with enveloping leaves.

Within this, you can see flamingos, black-winged stilts, great egrets, gray herons, ospreys, northern shovellers, Eurasian spoonbills and black avocets. The Oasis is also the only breeding site for the Little Tern and Little Tern along the Tyrrhenian coast.

The oasis has three pedestrian routes, one of which can be accompanied by a guided tour on request at any time of the year.
