Palace of Checco the Handsome
This palace was built in the 12th century in local stone with mullioned windows and frames finished with white marble details.
Its rather strange name, which literally translates to “The Beautiful Blind Man”, was given to it by one of Magliano in Toscana’s favorite sons, Francesco Salvi, who lived in the palace in the early 19th century.
This palace doesn’t exactly appear in most tourist guides about Magliano in Toscana, but I love it.
I love its grainy, crooked stones and intricately carved wooden door.
I think it looks so regal compared to all the other buildings in the square. I also have a fondness for the beautifully decorated stone details that define this section of the Maremma.
