Lubriano
ORIGINS AND HISTORY
Lubriano, located in the province of Viterbo, is a town that boasts ancient origins and a history rich in significant events. It was formerly known as “Vicus Cimiliano or Cimerianus.” In 300 B.C., Lubriano was subject to Roman rule, as evidenced by the remains of thermal facilities dating from that period. The town saw the succession of different dominations, including Visigoths, Goths, Byzantines and Lombards, until 774 AD with the arrival of Charlemagne. With him, Lubriano came under the control of the Church and Pope Benedict VIII. Over the centuries, Lubriano has suffered plunder, occupation, and conflict, but it has always retained its identity and charm. Today, it is an ideal place for those who want to disconnect from the hustle and bustle of the city and enjoy a breathtaking view of the Valley of the Badlands.
