Montemerano farms
On the outskirts of Montemerano there is a small group of villages, unknown in the 16th century as the “Poderi di Sotto”.
With the passage of time this community flourished until it became a real town, which its inhabitants in the 18th century they called Castelletto Santarelli in honor of the man who owned the land. Today they are the Poderi di Montemerano and is made up of a handful of characteristic and ancient houses and a very small church.
Of course, that in itself is not a reason to visit this community.
The Poderi di Montemerano have very few tangible attractions, but people can spend days exploring them. For me, it’s all about the atmosphere and character that seems to permeate every street and every building. This is Maremma.
Here live the noble and kind locals who have lived here for generations. This is untouched and untouched medieval countryside. The Poderi di Montemerano are charming in the true sense of the word and perfect for an afternoon stroll when you can think of nothing better than to immerse yourself in the beautiful countryside and dive headlong into the culture and enduring traditions that make the Maremma so enviable.
