Sources Above and Below
These two springs date from around 1236 and are an integral part of the village’s hydraulic system.
Fonte di Sopra:
Above the plaque describing the illustrious opening of this spring is a marble coat of arms bearing a rampant lion, symbol of the Republic of Siena.
Fucks Below: Until the mid-1900s this spring had an animal trough, then it was removed and replaced with two small stone basins. In the late 19th century a plaque dedicated to the memory of Giuseppe Garibaldi was added above the two stone arches of the baptismal font.
