Maregiglio’s story begins with three friends and partners, Giuseppe Rum, Costantino Fanciulli and Domenico Pellegrini, united by their passion for the sea. The first step was a simple raft carrying vehicles between the mainland and Giglio Island, starting the first private connections. With time and a far-sighted vision, the raft was transformed into the first ferry, the Giglio Espresso I, fostering the development of tourism.
As tourist flows increased, Maregiglio expanded the fleet, introducing larger ferries and day-trip boats. Within a few years, it became the leading shipping company for the islands of Giglio and Giannutri, contributing significantly to the local economy.
Joseph, Constantine and Dominic, together with the people they surrounded themselves with, built a solid company. Today, the children and grandchildren of the founders continue to run Maregiglio with the same passion and dedication, carrying on a family tradition that has lasted for three generations.
