St. John’s Church

With Roman foundations, an elegant Renaissance facade, and some Gothic elements added for good measure, this 15th-century church is aesthetically unique and one of the most popular tourist attractions in Magliano in Toscana.

Inside the mix of styles and eras continues, with a hexagonal 14th-century travertine baptismal font decorated with classical motifs sitting next to a Baroque-style altarpiece depicting St. Charles Borromeo and a temple-shaped tabernacle of the 19th century by a local craftsman – this is a mouthful!

The rest of the internal walls are almost entirely invaded by framed paintings, most dating back to the 14th century and still splendidly intact and colourful.
