Chiarone
It is part of a 12 kilometer sandy coastline. Three beaches follow one another, forming a long sandy coast that borders the territory of Orbetello to the north and Lazio to the south: round spot, The Chiarone and theLast chanceThe Chiarone beach extends north of the Ultima Spiaggia, up to the WWF reserve of Lake Burano, one of the first oases created in Italy and a wetland of international importance. The oasis is populated by innumerable species of birds, both sedentary and migratory, which, depending on the time of year, can be spotted by lurking in one of the many huts in the reserve. Birdwatchers will be able to spend quality moments here. For all those who love nature, the oasis of Lake Burano represents a true paradise. Behind the beach, beyond the dunes, there is an area of Mediterranean scrub. Juniper bushes and holm oak trees provide a home to wild boars, foxes and porcupines. Then the lake begins. The oasis occupies an area of 410 hectares of wetland. Walking on the beach, in this wild area, is a beautiful experience. Only the sound of the sea, the wind and the birds. Visiting the WWF oasis is truly unforgettable, especially for children. A day spent at Chiarone allows you to combine the hours spent on the beach, in the waves, with a beautiful adventure in contact with nature. One of the most interesting features of this stretch of coast is that it includes both bathing establishments and free areas. Depending on your preferences, everyone can find the right place to spend a pleasant day at the beach. In addition to the large stretches of free and natural beach, there are in fact areas equipped with umbrellas, sunbeds, showers and refreshment points. These characteristics distinguish the coastal stretch called ‘Ultima Spiaggia’. The name is also apt because it is the last beach in Tuscany, before entering the Lazio region. This is also the closest point to the sea where you can park. This stretch of sea is also known for being frequented by famous people. It was very popular in the seventies, but continues to have a large number of aficionados. The sea water is clean and emerald blue, thanks to the seabed of light or golden sand. Where the color of the sand is darker, the blue color of the sea also tends to darken, but the clarity remains unchanged. This area has been awarded several times with the orange flag for the quality of the water. Whether you love tranquility and nature, or prefer more equipped beaches, don’t miss a visit to the Chiarone. The restaurants on site, right on the seashore, are also highly recommended to everyone.

Tips for visiting
As indicated, this beach is suitable both for those who prefer to go to the beach and for those looking for the comforts of a bathing establishment. In both cases we point out that there is a restaurant right on the beach, open for both lunch and dinner. Therefore it is not essential to bring food. If you prefer to save money, you can bring your own packed breakfast. There are kilometers of free and uncontaminated beach north of the beach establishment. In this case there will be a bit of walking, but you can spend a special day. Bring enough water and food. You will not find any refreshment point except the one near the parking lot. Again for the same reason (distance) do not forget a hat, sunscreen or glasses in the car. If you prefer to use the umbrellas and sunbeds for a fee, contact the establishment and check the prices that are applied. In this way it will be easier to decide whether you want to use it or whether it seems more sensible to organize yourself and bring what you need to use the free beach. For families we recommend the possibility of visiting the WWF Oasis of Lake Burano. Guided tours are organized that will excite your children and help you rediscover the relaxing power of a walk in nature. For those who love photographing the beach near the Oasis it is among those to prefer. With the Torre da Buranaccio overlooking the lake. We recommend you stay until sunset. Have fun!
