Oratory of Our Lady of the Snows

Built in the 17th century, its facade is as white as snow, probably giving the church its name, in my opinion. Although it is also called the Pool Church because it happens to be located near the spring that provides water to
Santa Fiora
, so who knows.

But names aside, the church stands on the bank of the Fiora River in the most picturesque settings I have ever seen. Even if you are not religious, it is hard to resist coming here just to sit and watch the water flow and the beautiful wildflowers. Not to mention basking in the morning sun that bathes the entire garden in summer.

If it were not a church, it would be a great place for a picnic!

Inside, the church is equally picturesque and charming. Its walls are decorated with a wonderful fresco of St. Fiora and Lucilla that, although faded, still comes alive with vivid blues and reds and was painted by someone from the Della Robbia school in the 16th century.

There is also a lovely oval with several reliefs of locally beloved saints by Francesco Nasini (1640).
