Church and Convent of the Poor Clares

A Baroque-style church finished in the 15th century, you won’t be blown away by its exterior. The facade is decorated with pilasters and has a central portal with a curved pediment surmounted by a broken window. It is not much.

But inside this very modest building are some truly extraordinary works of art.

Don’t judge a book by its cover and keep an eye on the 18th-century painting “Madonna and Christ in Glory with Saints Gregory, Nicholas of Tolentino and Jerome.”

The work is joined by three logs that are carried in procession together with a beautiful wooden crucifix on the Feast of the Holy Cross (May 3).
