Nerucci Palace Art Collection

Today, much of the main floor of Palazzo Nerucci in Castel del Piano is used as an art gallery with works that rival those found in some of the most prestigious galleries in Florence and Rome.

Coming mainly from private collectors, the works are mostly by Renaissance artists, but they cover a significant and diverse range of subjects and landscapes and perfectly complement the regal grandeur of the palace itself.

There is a portrait of Cosimo de 'Medici in his prime, an extraordinarily detailed outline of a woman's hand embroidered on silk, and a sketch by Giuseppe Nicolò Nasini.

But as beautiful as these works are, there is one painting that alone attracts more visitors than all the other pieces combined: a self-portrait by Venetian artist Rosalba Carriera (1675-1757) seen above. Delicately painted in pastels, it is of considerable merit and above all of absolute splendor.
