The name &#8220;Orvieto&#8221; comes from the Latin &#8220;urbs vetus,&#8221; meaning &#8220;old city,&#8221; a clear reference to its long history. The city is well connected to major Italian cities due to its location along the A1 highway. Orvieto train station offers direct connections to Rome, Florence and other major cities. Once there, you can use the funicular to reach the historic center located at the top of the hill.
