It is difficult to explore the area without coming across an archaeological site with centuries-old cemeteries, underground chamber tombs and ruined villages.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span>Most of the Etruscan settlements at Magliano in Toscana were built between the mid-7th and early 6th centuries BC, before being abandoned a century later.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><strong><span>The main sites are:<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong><span>Necropolis of Santa Maria in Borraccia<\/span><\/strong>: <span>Cemetery with burial chamber dug into the underground rock and closed by a large stone door bearing arched carvings.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span>Necropolis of Cancellone I and II<\/span><\/strong><span>: in these elaborate necropolises there are large cemeteries with several rooms which, according to historians, belonged to Etruscan aristocrats, who were buried with iron spears, ceramics, bracelets and brooches.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span>Tomba delle Ficaie:<\/span><\/strong> <span>This tomb is closed to visitors, but the nearby museum exhibits drawings of the great tomb and the sphinx carvings found on its walls.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span>Saint Andrew&#8217;s Tomb:<\/span><\/strong><span> Tomb dug into the limestone rock and divided into several rooms. Along the walls are painted decorations of gigantic winged lions in the natural colors that characterized the Etruscan civilization.
