The entire facade was rebuilt after the First World War, when the city was heavily bombed.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>But inside, things have remained much the same since the Renaissance. Benvenuto di Giovanni created the precious panel of the Madonna and Child with Saints Sebastian and Mary Magdalene in the 15th century.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><main id=\"main\" class=\"\"><\/p>\n<div id=\"content\" class=\"content-area\" role=\"main\">\n<p><span><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-6653 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/maremma.name\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/497px-Saturnia_chiesa_di_santa_maria_maddalena_Madonna_col_Bambino_fra_San_Sebastiano_e_Santa_Maria_Maddalena_attribuita_a_Benvenuto_di_Giovanni_della_fine_del_sec._XV.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"365\" height=\"365\" srcset=\"https:\/\/maremma.name\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/497px-Saturnia_chiesa_di_santa_maria_maddalena_Madonna_col_Bambino_fra_San_Sebastiano_e_Santa_Maria_Maddalena_attribuita_a_Benvenuto_di_Giovanni_della_fine_del_sec._XV.jpg 365w, https:\/\/maremma.name\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/497px-Saturnia_chiesa_di_santa_maria_maddalena_Madonna_col_Bambino_fra_San_Sebastiano_e_Santa_Maria_Maddalena_attribuita_a_Benvenuto_di_Giovanni_della_fine_del_sec._XV-150x150.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 365px) 100vw, 365px\" \/>This panel (above) is Saturnia&#8217;s most famous artwork and is a true masterpiece with its gold filaments and angelic-looking figures.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Also preserved in the church are two beautifully sculpted 18th century processional crosses and a pair of angelic candelabra made in the 17th century and, as far as I know, unique in their kind in the whole of Maremma.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The wooden tabernacle that dominates the left side of the room features paintings of Saints Clare and Elizabeth of Hungary.
